Martha Sue Postlewait

Sue Postlewait, 81, peacefully died on January 9, 2026. Born in June 1944 in Cameron, WV, Sue was the daughter of Hildred and Kermit Bonar. From an early age, she was known for her curiosity, laughter, and kindness that would remain throughout her life.

Sue worked with hundreds of children during her teaching career with Marshall County Schools, giving special attention to those who found school to be difficult. Over the years, she was especially proud of working with students who struggled to learn to read.

She was also an active member in her church. She shared in bible studies, sang in the choir, and participated in many ways. It was her faith that brought her comfort at the end of her life.

Beyond work, Sue found joy in her family. She treasured her time with them and loved being part of their lives. Sue is survived by her daughter, Martha Cunningham, her son-in-law, Charles Cunningham, her grandchildren, Elliott Postlewait, Michelle Burton, Theodore Hanson, Grace Hanson, Sarah Cunningham, and her great-granddaughter, Sutton Burton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert.

Friends and family will gather on Saturday February 7, 2026 beginning at 1 pm until A celebration of her life will be held on February 7, 2026, at 2 pm at First Christian Church, 1343 National Road, Wheeling, WV.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial gifts be given in her name to the First Christian Church.
