Bishop Gregory Nelson Bell was born on August 20, 1949, in the vibrant city of San Francisco, California, to his loving parents, Arthur Nelson Bell and Beatrice Bean Bell. His early years were spent at Harbor Homes in West Oakland, where he was born into a family that soon expanded to include his younger brother, Timothy Andrew Bell.
His time at Harbor Homes was filled with adventures in the Boy Scouts alongside his cousin, Andrew Gordon, and numerous hours spent on the baseball field, a lifelong passion that shaped his future.
In 1964, the family relocated to East Oakland, where Gregory attended Havenscourt Jr High and formed a friendship that would last a lifetime with Steve Morgan.
While attending Fremont High School in Oakland, Gregory served as the editor of the esteemed student newspaper. Moreover, he assumed a leadership role within the student union, effectively advocating for better food options on campus.
During his High School years in Oakland, California, he met Carol Willis. They were each other's first loves, maturing together from high school to adulthood. Upon his return from the Air Force, she had been waiting for his return, and in a surprise visit to New York City, he proposed marriage to her.
Gregory and Carol were united in matrimony in Oakland, California. During the course of their marriage, Gregory began his journey in the radio industry, while they both thrived in their business pursuits throughout the years.
Their union gave rise to his only son, Cory Nelson Bell. He shared every joy and life lesson with his son throughout the remainder of his life.
Subsequently, he ascended to the position of preeminent radio station executive nationwide, having commenced his career as a salesperson at KLIV in San Jose in 1973. It was there that he encountered his lifelong colleague, Thom Bennett. Together, they shared numerous prosperous years in the radio industry, all the while maintaining their enduring friendship.
In 1992, he met Andrea Creswell and they entered into matrimony. During their marriage, they established the New Beginnings Christian Center in Antioch, California. The wonderful church family still has Bishop Bell in their hearts.
During his time as Founder and Pastor of New Beginnings Gregory Bell was ordained as a Bishop.
Gregory's professional life was centered around his two great passions: baseball and marketing. With over 50 years of experience in the marketing business, he founded Bell Marketing after cultivating a rewarding relationship with the Stockton Ports baseball team. Alongside his partner, Kyle Hendrix, he led the company to countless marketing and government contracts.His time with the Stockton Ports earned him the endearing nickname "Kool Papa," a name that echoed throughout the stadium, reflecting the impact he had on those around him.
