Gregory A. Beranek, age 69, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Pastor Nathan Scharf officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-North Chapel in New Ulm, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.

Greg is survived by his wife, Diane; step-children, Melissa (Craig) Baker of Hillsboro, OR, James (Erica) Penkert of St. Peter, Erich (Heather) Penkert of N. Mankato, and Gretchen Becker of Montgomery, MN; mother, Elaine Beranek of New Ulm; step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Gabriella, Olivia, Aaron, Grace, Bianca, Cora, Rosa, Pearl, Lillian, Mathilda, and Gideon; brother, Paul (Colleen) Beranek of New Ulm; sister, Kay (Steve) Krech of Hastings; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Gregory Arnold Beranek was born on December 21, 1955 in New Ulm to Arnold & Elaine (Tauer) Beranek. He graduated from New Ulm High School. Greg was united in marriage to Diane Penkert in August 2007 in Seaside, Oregon. He worked as a custodian at Jefferson Elementary School in New Ulm for over 25 years. Greg enjoyed going for a drive, traveling to see family in Wisconsin and Oregon, and tending to his vegetable garden. Greg will be remembered for his kindness and quiet demeanor. Blessed be his memory.
