Gregory Cotterill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coe-Genung Funeral Home on Oct. 3, 2025.
WATERLOO/GENEVA - Always in our ears.
Our beloved radio legend, Gregory James Cotterill, 67, died peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack July 21, 2025.
The celebration of life will be 2 PM to 4 PM Friday (August 15) at the Bartlett Theater, Coxe Hall in Hobart & William Smith Colleges, Geneva, NY.
Born in Ithaca in February 1958 to Arland and Lois Cotterill, he was a Waterloo High School graduate. He then finished his education at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, where he studied broadcast journalism.
Greg was station manager of WHWS and WEOS at Hobart & William Smith Colleges, as well as a photojournalist for the FLX Radio Group. He was also the host of the morning news broadcast weekdays for the radio group.
Before his time with FLX Radio and Hobart, Greg worked almost 20 years for WSFW in Seneca Falls.
Greg was a dedicated husband to Carolyn, caring for her daily "in sickness" for more than the past two decades after a debilitating health issue. She survives him; as well as a sister, Cheryl.
Greg loved all of his radio students and called them all his bonus kids. Greg is survived by the students, colleagues, friends and family who he worked with, taught, and gave guidance and support to for many decades.
Greg is survived by two children; and his son Luke Morris James Thillman; as well as by his best friend Lori Marie Thillman and his African Grey parrot, Tennessee Jed, who talks in his voice.
Forever in our hearts.
