Thomas Brown Obituary

WATERLOO – After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Thomas Gerald Brown, 87, of Waterloo, N.Y., passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side at his home Sunday, January 18, 2026.

He is survived by his wife, whom he celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary July 1, 2025, Eleanor M. Schweitz Brown; son Steven Brown of Cleveland, OH; daughter Kimberly Brown of Pittsburgh, PA; grandsons Hayden Brown, Graeme Brown, Everett Brown, Henry Oney, and Thomas Oney; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom was born December 31,1938, in Waterloo, the son of Edward C. and Mildred O. Brisco Brown. He was a 1957 graduate of Waterloo High School.

Tom was employed by Guaranteed Parts in Seneca Falls rising through the company to become a supervisor. After 28-years, he retired, only to be coaxed back to work at Timber Harvester, and then the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus until the depot closed. He was also active in the community, coaching Little League Baseball, serving a term on the Board of Education for Waterloo Central Schools, and was among the founding members of the 78 Club, which raised money for school athletics.

Tom was an avid hunter and golfer. He was also often be found tinkering with a project is his very well stocked garage. He was famously a lawn maintenance enthusiast, often seen keeping the grass cut, aboard his treasured John Deere lawn tractor.

Tom was predeceased by his parents; and siblings Edward C. Brown, Jr., Norman Brown, Carl Brown, Doris Schweitz, and Donna Sheridan.

Family and friends may call from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Coe-Genung Funeral Home. Following calling hours there will be a service at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Donald Schranz, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church in Clifton Springs, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waterloo Library & Historical Society, 31 E. Williams St., Waterloo, N.Y., 13165, where a number of books, documents, and artifacts Tom collected throughout his lifetime will be donated.

OMG I'm so very sorry to hear about tom he was such a great guy, Mrs. brown, Steve, and Kim I'm so sorry for your loss, 28 years i lived across the street from you, the best neighbors we ever had over on Washington street, you watched my kids grow up, i use to catch tom at rich and Vern's store have coffee and talk he was a great, he will be missed by all.
