It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Jude Hanks, who left us on November 28, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 20, 1956, in Jennings, LA, Greg was a proud son of Louisiana, and he spent his life doing what he loved best - working as a welder at Westlake Chemical and making memories with family and friends.
Greg was known to many as the beloved "Captain Greg," a title he earned through his passion for saltwater fishing. Those who knew him well can remember the countless hours spent on the water, with Greg leading the way as a fishing guide. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved nothing more than hitting the hunting grounds, sharing stories from the great outdoors, and cooking for his friends. He was also a Member of the Free Masons Grand Lodge of Louisiana. After his retirement, he spent his time studying God's word and living for the Lord.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Rebecca Hanks; his devoted daughters, Misti (David) Follis, Mandi (Chris) Stanga, and Deja Ayo; his sons Brady (Ashley) Hanks and Charles Davis; and his grandchildren, Jude, Sydni, Anna Rose, Bram, Brayden, and Elena, who will carry on his spirit and love for life. Greg is also survived by his dear sisters, Rachel Thompson and Andrea (Joe) Metzger, who have cherished memories of their brother and his infectious laughter, and his best friend, Michael Roy Bares.
A public viewing will be held on December 6, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings. Following the viewing, Greg will be cremated.
Gregory was preceded in death by: his parents, Curtis and Kay Hanks, and his brother, Scott Hanks.
