It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeffrey Wilson Brewer, who left us peacefully on February 7, 2026, at the age of 50. Jeff was born on April 2, 1975, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He grew up in Lafayette and Sunset, Louisiana. He spent the last eighteen years of his life in Jennings, Louisiana being a loving husband, father, and faithful friend. He was a true miracle from birth with God's help and medical science over his fifty years of life. He was the perfect image of a true warrior. Jeff fought a good fight until the very end, and he will always be our hero. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School, class of 1995. Jeff loved spending time with his family and friends. In his leisure time he played PlayStation 5 and spent time with his beloved and devoted dog, Bella Rae. He never met a stranger and had a memory like an elephant. He loved football, favorites LSU and the Michigan Wolverines. He was a fan of comedy and talked his parents into attending a Jeff Dunham comedy show at the Cajun Dome.
In his childhood he had two best friends and playmates, Timmy and Brady. His favorite pastimes were riding his bike, playing in the park, fishing in the small coulee in the backyard, and family vacations and geology field trips, including summers at Six Flags with his sister, Jenifer, Aunt Jane and Uncle Frank.
Jeff had a congenital heart defect. His first surgery was when he was 2 months old at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, where he remained for four months under the care of Dr. Williams and Dr. Ochsner. His second surgery at the age of 15, the Fontan Procedure, was a 3 week hospital stay under the care of Dr. Culpepper and Dr. Roca. His third and final surgery at the age of 33, his most amazing, the Fontan Revision, by two surgeons, Dr. Mello and Dr. Setty, taking two days to complete. He was under the care of Dr. Young, Pediatric Cardiology, until his death.
Jeff was a very devoted husband and proud father. Survivors include his wife, Lisa Comeaux Brewer, his children, Grant Wilson Brewer and Addyson Rose Brewer, who he loved more than life itself; his parents, Timothy and Cathrine Duex; sister, Jenifer Brewer Somner (John); father-in-law, James Comeaux; nieces, Kaitlynn Falgout, Brooke Falgout, and Ava Somner; nephew, Chris Comeaux; brother-in-law, Dwayne Comeaux, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Frank Lee Moreau Sr and Bobbie Rae Moreau, his father Kenneth Brewer, paternal grandparents Bonna Cowan and Mike Cowan, and mother-in-law Rose Comeaux.
A very special thank you to Chris Comeaux, Jeff's personal popsicle dude, for remaining with Jeff from the beginning to the end. For his unwavering support for his Aunt Lisa during the most difficult 45 days of Jeff's life. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to their loving friends, Donnie and Christine Venable along with their children Emma, Brooke, Cole, and Grant, for all the love and care they gave over the years. You were always more than friends, you were family.
Jeff's family also would like to express their appreciation to all the care givers at LAMM Hospice, especially Jessica Istre, Redessa Kibodeaux, Hailey, Amanda, and Hannah, and the Hospice doctor. Jessica was very instrumental in getting Jeffrey Home,” to his happy place”, on Christmas Eve. We want to recognize others who were involved with Jeff's care through the years as well as his last hospital stay in December, Dr. Hoyt, Dr. Enikova, clinic nurses Danielle and Sheila, PA's Brooke Muntean and Randy Sherlock, and Dr. Griffith in Jennings for the last 18 years.
We are forever indebted to the entire Ochsner System in New Orleans, Lafayette, and Jennings.
