Gregory Harbach Obituary

Gregory W. Harbach, 55, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at home.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a lifelong resident of the Pennington/Trenton, NJ area. He was a graduate of The Pennington School, where he played football for legendary Coach Bill Long. Winning the State Championship in both the 1985-86 and 86-87 seasons, the latter team is now inducted into that school's Hall of Fame. He also played baseball, performed in multiple school plays and in an epic charity event, wrestled his favorite teacher (Tom Liwosz) in a Jello match. He won! Greg graduated from Pennington in 1988 and spent time at Moravian College before returning home to work with family at General Porcelain Manufacturing Company. More recently, Greg was employed with the NJ State Department of Transportation as an Administrative Analyst.
Greg's many passions included music, disc golf with the 'Disc-Jointed' guys, and bowling, where he was the President of the NJ DOT bowling league. A long-term member of 700 club at the Vet, Greg eventually sold his tickets, preferring to watch his beloved Eagles at home with his son and father-in-law. Above all else, Greg cherished his relationships with his family and friends. Whether it was playing quoits, bean bag toss, hanging by a fire pit, or spending time in Wildwood Crest, Greg was most happy surrounded by those he loved. He truly knew the meaning of life!
He is survived by the love of his life Colleen Harbach; his children and their spouses Rayleen Barndt (Wilmer), Otto Harbach (partner Nina Genova), and Tatum Harbach; his granddaughter Willow Barndt; his loving parents William and Jean Harbach; his siblings Christopher Harbach (Florian Frank) and Jonathan Harbach (Kelly); his father-in-law and friend Raymond A. McCormack, III; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many lifelong friends.
The visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 4-7PM at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Eulogies will begin at 6:15PM. Please feel free to dress casually. You can even wear your favorite Philly sports jersey as we honor Greg.
Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to contribute towards a memorial bench on the Mercer County Park Disc Golf Course, one of Greg's favorite places to play and connect with those he loved. It will be a spot where future players can relax, reflect, and remember. Any additional funds will be contributed to ongoing maintenance of the course. https://www.gofundme.com/f/gregory-harbach

I was musical director of Guys and Dolls at The Pennington School, when Greg played Nicely Nicely Johnson. He was both talented and easy to work with. Whenever I hear "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat," I hear Greg singing it. I am indeed sorry that all of his family and friends have lost him so much too soon.

Colleen and Family,
I worked with Greg when he started at DOT, and it didn't take long for us to become friends. We loved to tease each other over bowling, football and anything else that we could make each other laugh about. I will miss our talks and the one thing I know for sure is that he loved his family and friends and spending time with them. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, and I hope all your memories will get you through the tough times. Rest easy Greg!

To Colleen and Family,
My husband worked with Greg and we both bowled with him. He was a great man who left a wonderful legacy behind. Now that he is gone may all the beautiful memories be a blessing to you and your family. Our sympathies for your loss.

My love for my cousin Gregory has and will never stop. We had a special unexplainable connection, me the oldest of the cousins and him the youngest, until Nicky and Joey. I'll always remember when he lived with me and it was frat house like, Otto, Joey, Nicky over, playing Oii , hanging, what ever, just making memories. Our making grandmom Olszewski's Christmas wish one year, he and I put lights on her porch, she wanted them, we delivered. Rest in Peace Gregory. You were loved like the loving, kind, person who gave so much of yourself to others deserved. forever, Janice

I will remember Gregory for his sense of humor and the touching eulogy he delivered for his "Uncle Rich" who loved Greg and enjoyed his company. Always a fun / funny guy Geggy quietly accomplished great things, big & small..... and humbly.
