Gregory Honsby

Gregory Honsby of Phoenix Arizona passed away after a long illness January 24 , 2026.

Greg was born on November 17, 1955 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was the eldest child of the late Leon and Emma Jane Honsby. The family settled in Mt. Holly, NJ in the early 60's where Greg spent his childhood years. In his early years he was a big fan of Star Trek and the Beatles.

Greg attended Mt. Holly public schools, graduating from Rancocas Valley Regional High School in 1974. He was an outstanding high school track athlete, winning the 1974 NJ State Championship in the Group A 880 yard run and the All-Group 880 yard run.

After graduating from High school, Greg joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After 18 years of service, he returned to Mt. Holly and was employed at Microcircuit Engineering. He later relocated to Arizona where he worked security for a construction company.

While In Arizona Greg suffered a fall and was confined to the Arizona State Veterans home where he spent the last ten years of his life.

Greg had a broad knowledge on a number of subjects and enjoyed talking about politics, history and science. One of his favorite pastimes was watching sci-fi movies. He was an avid sports fan particularly of basketball, football and tennis. He was a firm believer in Scripture and loved the Apostle Paul.

Greg was predeceased by two of his siblings, Rosetta Honsby and Donald Honsby. He is survived by his sisters, Honica Honsby, Janet Honsby, Sandra Honsby , and Terry Dingle, and his brother Edward Honsby, along with a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .

A memorial and burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona in the spring.
