Gregory Johnson Obituary
Greg graduated from Laguna Blanca in 1973 and took a job delivering for Pepperidge Farm, a job that Greg enjoyed as he was able to meet different people and brought joy to others, something that he felt strongly about. He went on to study Engineering. Greg's colleagues in the industry described him as a wonderful person who was enthusiastic and fun to work with. Greg was a brilliant scientist whose cameras have flown on aircraft and to the moon. Greg helped develop the first commercial use of thermal imaging in gas turbines. He also pioneered tracking systems for the military. Greg introduced infrared cameras to the automotive and racing community where his clients found it an invaluable tool. He was able to estimate temperatures of tires and brakes, knowledge so valuable that the teams wanted to keep it proprietary.
In addition, Greg's passions included auto racing and music. He had a perfect pitch and was able to appreciate music in a way most could not.
Greg was predeceased by his little sister Karla Johnson, his mother Marcella Johnson and his father Henry Johnson. He is survived by his cousins Karen Harlander, Sara Kareck, Lila Greenawalt Robinett and Christine Greenawalt.
A Memorial will be held for Greg on March 23rd, 2025. Please text Christina Mentes at 805-455-2854 if you wish to attend.
