Buellton - Jean Elizabeth Meyer of Buellton, CA, at the age of 98 years 9 months and 14 days passed peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Jean, known as 'Auntie ' by her family provided love and guidance to all that knew her. She leaves behind her loving niece Lois Craig and her husband Steve, and her caring nephew Bob Wilson and wife Julie. Auntie is also survived by great nieces and nephews: Pat Nixon, Paul and Nikki Wilson, Nichole and Terry Corbett, Daniel and Courtney Wilson, 17 great-great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great-great nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her beloved sister Alice Wilson, niece Nancy McGrath and her much loved dog Katie.
Auntie was an avid reader, she always had a book or two close by and was a member of a local book club. She loved jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed walks especially with her dear friend Ed Letts. Auntie spent many hours volunteering over her life. She spent time at the local hospital in Whiting NJ and continued to volunteer at the Buellton Senior Center, PHP food program, Santa Ynez Humane Society, and VIVA of Lompoc. Auntie loved her time at Viva where she spent countless hours socializing kittens and cats, getting them ready for adoption. She was a member of the Buellton Parks and Recreation Center, where she made many friends while attending line dancing classes, exercise classes and traveled with the group. From a young age Auntie had a love of adventure. She traveled to Paris, Montreal, Hawaii, Canada and Newfoundland, and made yearly trips to Florida to escape the New York winters. During her travels she also visited Costa Rica, Alaska, Albuquerque Balloon Festival and often visited to her family in Livingston TX.
Local arrangements are under the direction of McDermott-Crockett of Santa Barbara, and internment will be at Whiting Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum in Whiting NJ. Auntie will be laid to rest alongside her sister, Alice.
A celebration of Auntie's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Jean's memory to VIVA in Lompoc, Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society, the Wildlife Sanctuary, or your local humane society.
