Gregory Kalomas

Kalomas, Gregory age 79, of Prior Lake. Devoted husband, father & grandfather. Preceded in death by parents, Constantine & Paraskevi and brother, Nick. Survived by wife of 49 years, Tula Kalomas; son, Dean; daughters, Patricia Leaf and Sandra Michael (David); grandchildren, Nikolas, Gregory, Alexander, Sophia, Alec and Abbey; brothers, Ted, John and Tony; sister, Fotini Goumas; sister-in-law, Georgia; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Greg was born near Kalamata, Greece where he served in the navy. He and his family came to the U.S. in the early 1950's and resided in Moline, Ill. He met and married his wife Tula. They moved to Minneapolis in 1961. They became long-time members of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church. Greg and Tula worked together in the restaurant business for many years. Early on, they ran La Petite Café in Minneapolis. In 1976 they opened the Evergreen Restaurant in Savage. There they enjoyed the company of many faithful employees and friends. In 1988 they retired from the restaurant business. Greg continued to work part-time, spent time with his family and traveled. He made frequent visits to Greece. He harvested his own olive trees and constructed a vacation home for his loved ones. He passed away in Greece on Nov. 23rd and was laid to rest in his village surrounded by his wife, son and other family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sat., Dec. 10th at St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave. So. in Minneapolis 612-825-9595.
