Gregory Allen Kiburz, 68, of Gilbert, AZ, formerly of Atlanta, GA, and Villa Park, IL, died on August 5, 2023, after one day at the Lund Home Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ. He was born on July 28, 1955, in Munich, Germany. Greg, as he preferred to be called, was married to Melissa Spezia Faulkner. They met while both were living in the Chicago, IL, area. Greg was a most generous, caring person, whose laughter and wit would brighten anyone's day. He enjoyed playing guitar, country music was his favorite, and he was a great dancer.
Greg was a master carpenter and worked for various remodeling and design companies in Chicago, Phoenix, and Atlanta. He was a Master Mason and member of the Elmhurst, IL, Lodge 941, since 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa, brother, Daniel Kiburz (Clearwater, FL), niece, Amy Kiburz (Nashville, TN), nephew, Evan Kiburz (Clearwater, FL), nephews, Jason Spezia and Grayson Spezia (Pittsburg, IL), brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Sandy Spezia (Pittsburg, IL), cousin Mary Beth Hruby (Russ) of Petersburg, IL, and many other cousins. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Frederick Kiburz and Marian Elaine (Rees) Kiburz.
Greg was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Atlanta, GA. A Memorial Service will be officiated by Rev. Matthew O'Rear on September 9, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Inurnment and graveside service will occur on September 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm at San Carlo Cemetery, Herrin, IL, officiated by Father Mark D. Reyling. Memorial donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
