Gregory Kimball Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Jun. 9, 2025.
Gregory Lewis Kimball, aged 69, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2025 due to heart failure brought on by underlying health issues. Greg was born on February 10, 1956 in Fillmore Utah. He was the eldest of 4 children born to Daniel Stevens Kimball and Earlena Lewis Kimball. A year after his birth, his parents moved to Salt Lake, first to Millcreek and later to Mt Olympus Cove where he grew up with his 3 younger siblings; Sue, Jim and Heidi.
Even while still young, Greg took his position as Big Brother very seriously. He was always highly protective of those he cared about. He loved animals, particularly all the pet dogs he had throughout his life. Greg had a keen mind, picking up on new concepts lightning fast. He was particularly enthralled with anything that had a motor or engine. Even as a preschooler he'd spend hours taking apart household appliances and putting them back together, all on his own.
As a teen Greg became an excellent skier, spending most Saturdays skiing Park City West with his family. He was also an avid water skier enjoying boating trips with "The Mops"- a group of families which included his lifelong friend, Gary Diehl. Greg also loved his time spent at Las Gaviotas in Baja Mexico as a teen and young adult. Greg's true passion though was cars – especially anything black, sleek, high powered and fast! He was obsessed with cars, even taking apart the engine of his Trans Am at 16 and rebuilding it completely on his own– long before the advent of the internet.
Greg met and married his life partner Karen Crossland in 1988. While they loved their early years together in Park City, they became increasingly eager to begin a family. After going through several challenges and disappointments they finally received their little miracle, Tiara Nicole Kimball, on September 14, 2007. Next to Karen, Tiara was the greatest joy of Greg's life. He became a first time father at 51, loving every minute raising her in their home in Kamas.
Greg began his career in sales and eventually moved into an executive position at #1 Performance. He then helped start Pruess Tires, which he co owned for a few very busy years. Following this he worked at Big A Auto Parts for years as an Account Executive. Greg spent the final years of his career with GDI, or Go Dan Industries, as an upper management executive. The company went through several name changes eventually becoming Vista Pro.
Greg struggled with early retirement over his last years of life, as he was never great at relaxation. He liked to be busy and productive and his mind never quit. Greg will be remembered for his love for his family, his Clint Eastwood quotes and his quick wit.
Greg is survived by his wife, Karen Crossland Kimball and his beloved daughter Tiara Nicole. He also leaves behind 3 dogs he adored: Koda, Mia and Sitka. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel S Kimball, his mother Earlena Kimball and sister Dana Sue Kimball Israelsen.
There will be a graveside service on Friday June 13th at 11 am at Elysian Burial Gardens in Millcreek (1075 E 4580 So) and a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his widow has requested you contribute to Tiara's future at any Zion's Bank in the name of Tiara Kimball Trust Karen Kimball.
