Gregory Knabe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott Funeral Home - Muenster on May 24, 2023.
Mass of Christian Burial for Gregory Eugene 'Hoss' Knabe, age 64, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rosary and Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Mr. Knabe passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Hoss was born in Denton on January 12, 1959. He was the first born to Harold Eugene & Bertha Christine (Neusch) Knabe of Muenster. Raised in Muenster, he attended both Sacred Heart & Subiaco Academy before graduating high school at Muenster Public in 1977.
Immediately following high school, he took up various jobs including the local AMPI cheese plant and work in the oilfield before ultimately finding his passion surrounding the swimming pool industry. Starting in steel & plumbing and eventually worked his way to owning his own pool & landscaping company. His creativity and enthusiasm behind his designs garnered him tremendous success in these endeavors.
In his free time, Hoss was a true sports enthusiast, an avid hunter & fisherman, and a dear friend to many. Hoss was also no stranger to giving back in various ways. He generously contributed to local charities, organized fundraisers, and volunteered his time to support various causes.
In 1985, he married Reneta Walterscheid of Muenster. Together they had four children: Jessica, Clay, Kyle & Jason. His love for sports and hunting was not lost on his children, who are still just as passionate as he was.
Unfortunately, life presented him with unforeseen challenges as his business encountered difficult times. The ensuing burdens were heavy on him, and the weight of his struggles led him down a turbulent path.
As we bid farewell to Hoss, let us remember the extraordinary person he was before the darkness cast its shadow. Let us choose to remember the man he was at his core. May his spirit live on, inspiring us to face our own challenges with resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Hoss is survived by his daughter: Jessica Knabe of Denton; sons: Clay Knabe and girlfriend Deshea Woods of Sunset, Kyle Knabe of Muenster, and Jason Knabe of Muenster; grandsons: Seth, Elias, Cyrus, and Murray of Sunset; sister: Cindy and Jim Puckett of Gainesville; brothers: Duane and Mary Lin Knabe of Muenster and Rusty and Sarah Knabe of Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Bertha Knabe; and brother: Brad Knabe.
