Gregory Paul Leitner, known as "GiGi" to his grandchildren, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Bonifay, Florida, at the age of 65.
Greg was born on October 16, 1959, and grew up in Bonifay. After graduating from Holmes County High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy, spending time stationed in Guam. Greg later moved to Texas, where he married and began raising his family. Eventually, the love of Blue Devil football brought him back home so his children could grow up in Bonifay, the town he loved.
Greg had a passion for Friday nights under the stadium lights, whether cheering on his children or working as part of the chain gang for over 20 years. His booming voice could often be heard echoing across the field as he yelled, "Let's Hit Somebody!"
A man who loved working with his hands, Greg enjoyed being outdoors and had a talent for fixing just about anything. He was a wealth of knowledge and especially loved watching the History Channel.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Broxson and his brother, Joe Marsh.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Leitner; his children: Paul Leitner II, Michelle Leitner Fry (Brock), Bridget Leitner Yarbrough (Justin), and Eric Leitner; and his grandchildren: Taylor Church, Gregory Leitner III, Nykolette Yarbrough, Lakyn Yarbrough, Rebel Leitner, Valkyn Fry, and Lynnox Fry. He is also survived by his siblings: brother Chris Broxson, sister Lanell Kommatas (Lukas), sister Vickie Marsh, and sister-n-law Ivy Marsh, along with many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Greg will be remembered for his big personality, his willingness to help anyone who needed it, and the unmistakable voice that carried across a football field.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home in Bonifay, Florida, with a service to follow.
