Gregory L. Mercer, 78, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1947, in Elkhart to the late H. Wesley and Margaret E. Mercer. On Sept. 24, 1977, he was united in marriage to Martha (Wallace) Mercer.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Martha, as well as two children, Mark (Kristen) Mercer and Laura Deluca; two grandchildren, Emmitt and Ajay Mercer; one brother, Karl (Barbara) Mercer, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked at the railroad for 38½ years before his retirement. He was a devoted member of Beulah Missionary Church, where he was the head trustee for over 15 years.
Greg was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on March 21, at Beulah Missionary Church, 57595 Old County Road 17, Goshen, IN 46528. Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Per Greg's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beulah Missionary Church.

I´m saddened and shocked to read about his passing. he and his wife Marty were neighbors to my parents while I was growing up. His older brother was a good
Friend of my father´s, Dale Kiefer. Greg and Marty were both wonderful too my sisters and I while they were neighbors with us. He was a kind man and I´m sure he´s going to be greatly missed by all that knew him. Prayers and hugs for the family.

I met Greg at the Beacon Aquatics in Elkhart. We would talk often about many things. A true gentleman who was always courteous, kind and respectful. RIP my friend, you were special. My condolences to the Mercer family.
