Gregory Miller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Troy B. Smith Professional Services on Dec. 16, 2025.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. I Corinthians 15:58

Gregory Charles Miller, affectionately known as "The Undertaker" and "Bubba," was born on February 5, 1958, to Ray and Rosie Miller. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Miller, and his brother, Stanley Miller.

Greg married Deborah Worrell on April 19, 1989, and from their union one child was born, Gregory Charles Miller, Jr.

Greg gave his life to Christ at an early age and served the Lord faithfully throughout his life. He was a devoted member of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for approximately 15 years. As part of his ministry and service, he also volunteered through Prison Fellowship Ministries to teach automotive repair to incarcerated men in the Carol Vance Prison Unit in Sugarland, Texas.

Greg attended HISD schools and later put his exceptional math skills to use in a successful career as a mechanic. He held multiple Master ASE certifications and specialized in repairing Elgin Sweepers and heavy construction equipment and tractors. He began his employment with the City of Houston in 1978 and remained there for 27 years. During his tenure, Greg was an outstanding employee and was recognized for 15 years of perfect attendance as well as Supervisor of the Year. After retiring from the City of Houston, he continued working full-time with Main Lane Industries and later United Rentals.

Greg had a true passion for helping others. Family and friends could call on him at any time of day or night, knowing he would be there. He loved barbecuing alongside his favorite sidekick, his wife Deborah, as he generously cooked for family gatherings, funerals, graduations, birthdays, and more. Another passion of his was deer hunting, a love he shared with his son and his father. This love of hunting led Greg to purchase 40 acres of land in Junction, Texas, where he enhanced the hunting grounds to include sleeping accommodations, a water well, and electricity. He also possessed an unmatched knowledge of all types of cars and trucks, as well as a keen interest in a variety of genres of music.

Greg loved his family dearly, and his presence will be deeply missed. He was the glue that held the family together-the "boss" of everyone. He reminded us to maintain our generators, keep up with car maintenance, always buy "Ford," and to follow many other of Greg's do's and don'ts.

Greg leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Deborah; his son, Gregory Charles Miller, Jr.; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth; his mother, Rosie Miller; his siblings, Beverly, Tonja (Tommie), and Maurice (Rosemary); his granddaughters, Athena and Sophia; his nephew, Tobias Dorsett; his niece, Chassidy Miller; and a host of other family members, church members, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.
