Gregory Moten Obituary

Dr. Gregory A. Moten, D.O., of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in Stow, Ohio. He was 68 years old. Born in Avella, Dr. Moten was a beloved physician, devoted father, a proud fun-loving grandfather ("GG"), and cherished family member and friend to many. Born September 8, 1955, he was proud graduate of Avella High School, Waynesburg College, and West Virginia University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Upon completion of medical school, Gregory found roots in Cuyahoga Falls, where he dedicated his life to the service of others through his medical practice. His passion for helping people was evident in his profession, but also his personal life with his numerous volunteer efforts within the community. He spent years coaching sports teams at Woodridge and Cuyahoga Falls schools. He worked closely with local churches and organizations to sponsor families in need. The holidays were his favorite time to spread joy and ensure families had what they needed to create the perfect memory. Greg connected with people everywhere he went. His love for Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers, was rivaled only by his enthusiasm for film and music. He had an extensive collection of both that he took great joy in sharing with each of his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Yvette Rahim (Jamil), Candra Moten, and Gregory Moten Jr.; His grandchildren, Alexys, Kendall, Taylor, Melesa, Maija, Jaden, Myles, Curtis, and Cora. He was further blessed with his great-grandson, Kaisen. Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Evonne Moten; and his brother, Wayne Moten Jr. Gregory's legacy of kindness, compassion, and community service will live on through the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will be laid to rest according to his wishes in a private ceremony alongside his parents and brother in West Middletown. For those who feel inclined to honor Gregory's continued charitable acts and continue his legacy on in that manner, the family is asking that memorial donations be directed to the Huntington's Disease Society of America at https://hdsa.org/get-involved/donation-opportunities/ To share a memory, send a condolence, or light a candle, visit the Tribute Wall at www.billowfuneralhomes.com (Billow FALLS Chapel)

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Greg´s passing. I was a football teammate of his at Waynesburg College in the 1970s. He was an excellent athlete as well as being on the Dean´s list in college as a Chemistry major, as I recall. I remember talking with him about family life , music, etc. He had a very calm, collected demeanor about him which is sometimes not found in rambunctious football players. As a player, he was a TE with great hands. RIP, Greg.
