He was born on October 1, 1962, in Greenville, Ohio, to Agnes (Heidinger) Scheufler of Sarasota, Florida, and the late Richard "Dick" Oda.

In addition to his mother, Greg is survived by his siblings, Michael (Terrie) Fraer of Churchville, Maryland, James Daniel "Dan" Oda of Dayton, Ohio, and Angela (Tony) Crews of Tipp City; his nieces and nephews, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Fraer, Corey (Veronica) Fraer, Ashley (Travis) Key, Adam Fair, Alyssa (Matt) Orth; his great nieces and nephews, Stockton Key, Rome Key, Ada Orth, Lucy Orth; and numerous cousins.
