Gregory Vincent Petereit, a beloved engineer, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Rochester, New York. Born on May 13, 1965, in Montreal, Canada, Greg led a life defined by his deep commitment to his profession and his passions. He was not only an accomplished engineer but also a person of great integrity and kindness.
Throughout his career, Greg made significant contributions to his field, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. His analytical mind and problem-solving skills were matched only by his unwavering dedication to his work.
Beyond his professional achievements, Greg was known for his love of reading and his passion for outdoor hiking. He found joy in immersing himself in literature and exploring the beauty of nature, which reflected his curious spirit and desire for adventure.
Greg is survived by his loving children, daughter Natasha Petereit and son Elliott Petereit, who will carry forward his legacy of compassion and determination. He is also survived by his sister, Jennifer (Tim) Pahapill, and his brother Chris. They will forever cherish the memories and moments shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerd and Brigitte Schulz Petereit, who played pivotal roles in molding the values and principles that Greg embraced throughout his life.
A visitation will be held in his honor at New Comer Funeral Home, Westside, located at 2636 Ridgeway Ave in Rochester, NY, on December 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Friends, family, and all who came to know Greg are invited to celebrate his life and pay their respects during this time of remembrance.
Gregory Vincent Petereit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his warmth, intellect, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
