Gregory A. Phillipson, age 62, of St. Louis MO. Passed away on May 14, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital St. Louis. Greg was born on October 16, 1962, in East St. Louis the son of the late George & Lavone (Feltenstein) Phillipson. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his sister Lisa Phillipson of Maryville, IL Aunt Betty Jo Wiegers of Troy Il, various cousins; and countless friends whom he always considered his chosen family.
Greg never met a stranger. With a lifetime of frequent flyer miles and a phone contact list full of friends, he would be the first one to say yes to an invitation. Greg brought joy, laughter, and connection wherever he went.
Whether he was enjoying the sites on a Florida beach, sipping espresso in Rome, or seeing a Broadway show, He believed people were meant to be celebrated. From group trips with friends to spontaneous solo getaways, he lived a life full of color, music, and movement. Some of his favorite destinations besides Florida and New York City, included bucket-list trips to Paris and Rome.
Greg grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois and was a graduate of Edwardsville Senior High School Class of 1980; but lived most of his life in St. Louis, with a brief tenure in his beloved Florida. He studied at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
Besides travel and Broadway, Greg was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals (and knew where each and every one of them lived, having done a drive-by or two), rom-com movies, shopping and dining out (he always wanted to be the first one to report on a new restaurant).
He started his professional career at Prudential Insurance, and worked in the administration and sales of many insurance companies, including Essence Healthcare, where he spent twenty years and helped launch the Plan in the St. Louis area.
He was a cancer survivor, having beat melanoma and "ringing the bell" at his recovery several years ago; but discovered the cancer had returned internally just two short months before he passed.
In his honor, have a margarita, share a story, or plan a trip-you know he would've wanted that.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025,at Bella Milano in Edwardsville from 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm.
Greg asked that his wide network of friends consider a donation to Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis in lieu of flowers or other considerations. Condolences may be expressed online at weberfuneralhome.com.

As part of Greg´s "Logical Family",Tim and I wish to extend our sincere condolences to Greg´s Family and the rest of his "Logical Family", AKA "The Gang". For the last 28 years for me, a little longer for Tim, Greg always kept us entertained and in the know. We always enjoyed his annual Christmas party that he cohosted with Mary. Know that he will be greatly missed.
