Gregory Vann Poe

Gregory Vann Poe, age 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was born on September 7, 1951, in Sanford, North Carolina, to the late Allan Augustus Poe and Evelyn Howard Poe.

Mr. Poe led a long and successful career in the construction industry, where he was widely respected for his skill, work ethic, and craftsmanship. From residential and commercial construction to specialized projects including seawalls, docks, and personal horse barns, Greg was a true wood craftsman whose attention to detail and pride in his work were evident in every project he completed.

Outside of work, Greg embraced life with warmth and authenticity. He could often be found on Sunday afternoons watching classic western movies, grilling with loved ones, or sitting by a fire sharing stories with friends and family on the weekends. He enjoyed deep-sea fishing, but his greatest passion was being on a horse-a place where he found peace, freedom, and joy.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristin Poe, and his cherished grandchildren, Abigail Grace, Ashlyn Gray, and Jaylin Elijah. He is also survived by his beloved children of his first wife, Christopher Winstead, father of Tanner Winstead, and Michelle Dudley, mother of Tylor Winstead, Brittany Dudley, and Trevor Dudley. Greg is further survived by his sisters, Donna Conrad and Tonia Poe, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Poe, in 2023.

Gregory's memorial service will be held on January 10, 2026 at 1:00pm at Joy Baptist Church, located at 61 Bowers Road, Siler City NC 27344.
