Gregory Shaffer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2026.
Gregory Earl Shaffer, 67, passed away on February 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.

Born in Paulsboro, New Jersey, Greg spent his early years there before moving at age 17 to Shenandoah County, Virginia - a move that would change the course of his life. It was there that he met the love of his life, Jerri. Their love story spanned 47 devoted years of marriage. Their marriage was truly an embodiment of in sickness and in health.

Greg was a man who truly never knew a stranger. It was not uncommon to see him pulled over on the side of the road offering someone a ride or stopping to lend a helping hand. If you knew him, you always knew where you stood because he wasn't afraid to tell you.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jerri Shaffer; his daughters, Sarah Carper (Zach) and Megan Henry (Josh); and his grandchildren Emma, Hanna, Jillian, Arabella, Addison, Averly, and Luke, his Mother in law, Carol Shaffer and sister, Vickie Simonelli (Carmen) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Dando and stepfather Cliff Dando and brothers.

Above all else, Greg's greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. They were the light of his life. He loved to tell stories about his family to anyone that would listen. Nothing brought him more happiness than being "Grampy" to his grandchildren.

In accordance with Greg's wishes, no services will be held.

Greg will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
