Age 66, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Greg was born on October 30, 1957. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and worked at the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 2022 after 44 years of service. Greg was an avid fisherman, especially during his younger years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrland D. and Norma Lou (Snyder) Shutes. Greg is survived by several cousins and many close friends, including his Sheriff's Department family. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate Greg's life will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 South Westnedge Ave., Portage, MI 49002. Interment will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association, the Azheimer's Assocation-Michigan Great Lakes Chapter or a charity of one's choice.

I worked with Greg for many years. We took our breaks together nearly every day. He was always a caring friend, and his passing leaves this world with one less good man. He is missed.
