Yesterday
Greg and I lived in the same condo building in Evanston. My understanding is that he was one of a number of long term residents. In contrast, I became a resident in 2023. This is a quiet building and Greg was apparently one of the quieter residents as we encountered each other infrequently. When our paths did cross, he was always pleasant but engaged only briefly. There was one encounter, however, that stood out. I was struggling to get two very large and moderately heavy boxes that had been delivered for me into the elevator to bring them up to my unit. Greg saw me struggling and, despite his obvious mobility difficulties, insisted on assisting me despite my expressed concerns for his well-being. After much effort, we succeeded in getting the items into the elevator and into my unit. Whew! Greg seemed pleased with being able to help and I was certainly grateful! I will think of him every time I sit in one of those chairs. May you rest in peace, Greg. My condolences to your family.

P.S. Since this encounter, I have learned that there is a hand truck stored in the garage that would have made the job a lot easier!
