Gregory A. Strosnider, 71, of Lost City, WV passed away peacefully at EA Hawse Healthcare Center in Baker, WV on September 16, 2025.

Born April 12, 1954, to the late John Strosnider and Irene Spaid Costello. At just six weeks of age, Greg was lovingly taken in and raised by the late Olonza and Doris Spaid, who he always knew as dad and mother.

He graduated from Hampshire High School in 1972 and went on to further his education with a degree in social work from Potomac State College and a Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University. Greg dedicated his life to serving others. He was the incorporator and a founding member of Aids Response Effort, an active member of the Council on Domestic Violence and the Council on Alcoholism, and formerly served as a licensed social worker at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Winchester, VA. He later continued his calling as the Executive Director of the Robert E. Rose Memorial Home, also located in Winchester.

Beyond his professional life, Greg had a deep appreciation for beauty and history. He was an avid collector of art and antiques, with a special talent for refinishing furniture. Most of all, he treasured the time spent with his family and friends, who brought him joy throughout his life.

He is survived by his partner of 42 years William "Billy" Greist of Lost City, WV; his daughter: Jennifer Costello Lineweaver and husband Eric of Stephens City, VA; his sisters: Cindy Walker and husband Bobby of Augusta, WV; Cherry Lupton and husband Donald of Mathias, WV; Debbie Adams of Tyler, TX; Betsy Chavez of Tularosa, NM; beloved niece: Missy Walker and husband Kenny McBride of Augusta, WV; numerous children who have been part of Greg and Billy's lives and hearts: Gregory, Alyssa, Dayton Alexis, Addison, Kaden, Gage and Henley and numerous of nieces and nephews and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Greg is preceded in death along with his parents by his siblings: Joan Strosnider, Ellen "Susie" Costello, Lisa Costello and Randall Spaid, a niece Tabitha "Tabby" Dove and his mentor and partner of 15 years: Major Robert E. Rose.

The family will receive friends and family at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 1-2 PM followed by a memorial service at 2 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Mike VanDerLinden. Interment will be privately held.
