Gregory “Greg” Thomas, affectionately known as “Rock,” passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at the age of 64. Greg was a hardworking and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose life was centered around family, loyalty, and an appreciation for the outdoors. A proud ironworker, he took great pride in his craft and the work he accomplished throughout his career.
Greg shared 27 years of marriage with his late wife, Kristine (née Sponheimer) Thomas, whose memory he cherished deeply. Together they built a warm and loving home for their children, Gregory and Lauren (Matt). His greatest joy later in life came from his grandchildren, Matthew, Miles, and Parker, who lovingly knew him as “Poppy.”
He is survived by his siblings Jane Ellen (widow of Bob), Kenny (Shirley), and Anne, and was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Regina (McHugh) Thomas, as well as his siblings Reggie, Jerry (survived by Patti), Alicia (Bill), Bobby (survived by Mary), and Eileen (survived by Mark).
Greg found peace and contentment in nature, especially during his visits to the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, where he enjoyed the quiet beauty of the outdoors and the simple moments it offered.
Relatives and friends are invited to Greg's visitation on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 Am at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA followed by his funeral service at 11:30 AM. Interment private.
