Gregory A. Troilo

1939 - 2024

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gregory Anthony Troilo, 85, formerly of Vandergrift, passed away after a long battle with dementia on Nov. 14, 2024 in Fairmont, WV. Son of Madeline (Biagioni) and George Troilo, he was born on Aug. 15, 1939, in Leechburg, PA. He grew up in Vandergrift, PA, and went on to graduate from Vandergrift High School. Following a brief time as a cadet at the Air Force Academy, he went on to study electrical engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. He later earned his Professional Engineer license through the National Society of Professional Engineers. Greg worked at several engineering firms in Pittsburgh. On Aug. 24, 1974, he married Bonnie Kocur and had one child, Jessica. Greg and Bonnie celebrated 50 years of marriage on Aug. 24, 2024. He retired from Eichleay Engineering in 1998, and enjoyed several years of playing tennis, golf, and traveling with his beloved wife, Bonnie. Their favorite places included Hilton Head, the Palm Desert, Clearwater Beach, and Aruba, but they also traveled as far as Croatia, Venice, and Greece. He was preceded to heaven by his mother, father, beloved sister Kathleen Chvala, and loving son Christopher. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, who resides in Morgantown, WV; his children, Gregory of New Kensington, PA, Susan of Scottdale, PA, and Jessica and husband, Bob Britten of Morgantown, WV; grandchildren, Angela, Alexandra, Aarika, Anthony, Nico, Avery, and Thessaly; great-grandson, Micah; sisters, Marilyn Brozovich and Maria Rosenthal, both of Vandergrift, PA; brother, Edward, of Vandergrift, PA; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Greg was a deeply loved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was a rock and source of advice to many and a master storyteller. He would find an excuse to talk to anyone so that he made friends wherever he went. He loved music and sang along with all the oldies, but he especially loved Frank Sinatra. We know he's still singing as he watches over us. Family and friends will be received Monday, from 5 p.m., till time of a Blessing Service at 7 p.m., with Fr. Michael Sciberras officiating in the DUNMIRE - KERR AND ROWE FUNERAL HOME, INC. 244 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Greg will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His love, humor, and presence will remain in our hearts forever.
