Gregory "Shane" Vanaman, 52, of Lonoke, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 3, 2024. Shane was born November 9, 1971 in Little Rock to Carl and Veronica (Holliman) Vanaman. Shane was preceded in death by his father, Carl Dale Vanaman; grandparents, Chuck and Norma Ruth Vanaman, Thomas and Ima Faye Holliman, and mother-in-law, Marie Hill.
Shane is survived by his wife of ten years, Crystal, (which were the happiest 10 years of his life); his children, Shelby Long (Colten), Abby Smith (Hunter) and Garrett Dunn (Shelbi); his mother, Veronica Vanaman; his brother, Chad Vanaman; four grandchildren, Cooper and Cohen Long, Violette Smith and Baby Collins Dunn, whom all thought the world of their Papaw. Shane loved and was loved by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended family, fur babies, Copper and Mousey, and a host of dear friends. Shane will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Shane followed in his father's footsteps and entered the Information Technology field. He worked for the State of Arkansas for 14 years and Blue Cross Blue Shield for the last few years.
Shane loved God with all of his heart and soul, and loved singing praises to him while playing his guitar, most often singing songs he had written himself. He was a member of Gravel Ridge General Baptist Church in Sherwood, where he served as a deacon and song director.
Shane's family was very dear to him. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. The grandchildren loved playing with their Papaw, because he played as if he were a child himself. He was an outdoorsman and could spend hours sitting silently in a deer stand. Those of us who knew him find this fascinating, as Shane liked to talk and was an avid storyteller. For him to be silent for any length of time was unknown to us all.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral Servies will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 8, 2024 at Gravel Ridge General Baptist Church, 15915 AR 107, Sherwood, AR with Brother Ben Spickes, III officiating. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, 681 Wesley Chapel Rd., Quitman, AR.
If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, you may donate to Gravel Ridge General Baptist Church C/O Tampa New, Treasurer. 12208 Jacksonville-Cato Rd., North Little Rock, AR 72120. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.
