John Jacques Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home on Jan. 21, 2026.
John Gilbert Jacques, 89, of Cabot passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026. He was born December 18, 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Elmer Reginald and Lillie Frances Joyner Jacques. John was a Christian and served his Lord as a Baptist minister. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In his later years, he worked as a cleric for AT&T. John had many interests and hobbies and was quite an accomplished man, yet he was a simple man, never asking for much. If he wasn't working in his yard, you could be sure he was working on some hobby. He was a caring, loving husband who took care of his wife, Helen, until her death in 2011. John later met Leoda Collins and he took care of her until she passed in 2024. John got along really well with his neighbors, the Fortson's, and his new neighbor, Eddie. When they all met, they hit it off like they were long lost friends. John would help anyone who was honest with him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacques was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Louise Jones Jacques; brothers, Charles Elmer Jacques and William Robert Jacques and numerous aunts and uncles. John will be dearly missed by many friends and family and his cat, Patches.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 23, 2026 at Life Tabernacle Church in Jacksonville with interment to follow at Oak Bowery Cemetery in Conway. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements by Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, 501-843-5816.

Unfortunately, I never met JG which is what my brother, Kenny Jacques, called him. My dad was the baby of the family and would have been the younger brother of JG´s dad, Reginald. I understand that he was a fine man and wish I had had the pleasure of meeting him. So sad that there are many family members and many families that you never get to meet.
