Gregory White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McMillan-Small Funeral Home & Crematory on Dec. 3, 2025.
Gregory Dale White, 76, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Greg is a man of unwavering love, dedication, faith, and humor-qualities that shaped a lifetime of meaningful relationships and cherished memories.

Born on June 13, 1949, in Princeton, WV, to Dale Forrest White and Billie Sue Shumate White. Greg is a graduate of Narrows High School, Narrows, Virginia. He attended Roanoke College on a basketball scholarship and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Following college, he honorably served in the Army Reserves, reflecting his lifelong commitment to service.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Patrick Ryan White and Jeffry Lynn White.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Shirley Powers White, and their children: Sheri L. Kroupa (Ken, Jr.), Stacy M. Tiahrt, Jeffrey M. White (Ashley). Greg is a proud grandfather to and survived by: Shannon A. Wheeler (Joseph), Nicholas D. Tiahrt (Jenn), Zachary A. Tiahrt (Ann), Matthew G. Tiahrt, Henry O. White, and Rowan G. White; and a loving great-grandfather and survived by: Issac R. Urton, Claire E. Urton, Easton R. Tiahrt, Harper E. Wheeler, and Conor D. Tiahrt; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

After meeting in 1979, Greg and Shirley married and resided in Northern Virginia. Greg built a successful career in construction management, founding his own businesses and working for several Fortune 500 companies. Among his professional accomplishments, he especially treasured his time as Division Vice President of Golf at Toll Brothers. In 2004, Greg and Shirley relocated to Myrtle Beach to be closer to family, becoming members of Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach.

Greg will be remembered for his playful spirit, quick wit, and warm sense of humor. He often served as the family jokester, bringing laughter to every gathering. He coached his son's basketball and baseball teams, sparking the beginning of his writing project, "The Guide to Shooting Foul Shots."

A man of many loves, Greg is a loyal Clemson fan, a dedicated flea market enthusiast, an honorary HOA president, a proud cancer survivor, a notorious tic-tac-toe "cheater," professional napper, and above all, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and neighbor.

Greg will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His kindness, humor, and love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

Memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, North Myrtle Beach, SC, on December 20, 2025 at 12 PM.

Greg will be laid to rest alongside his parents and brothers in Virginia at later date.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and doctors of Grand Strand Medical Center ICU–2 South for their exceptional and compassionate care.
