Greta Raynette Meekins Washington, daughter of Margaret Meekins Taylor, was born August 23, 1958, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She departed this life on October 2, 2025.
She received her early education in the Cumberland County School System. She was a proud graduate of Reid Ross Senior High School in 1976, where she played softball, volleyball, and was a flag girl in the band. After graduation, she attended Fayetteville State University where she was an original member of the first flag line in the marching band and later became captain. While living in New Bern, NC, Greta worked in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant and later became a Certified Medical Assistant before transitioning back to Fayetteville, NC. As an adult learner, she returned to college and earned a B.S Degree in Psychology from Fayetteville State University and a M.S. Degree in Psychology from Kaplan University. She became employed at Maidenform, Inc. where she worked for over 18 years and served as a union representative.
She enjoyed reading, cooking for and spending time with family and friends, and her newfound hobby of diamond art. Serving as a mother at Circle City Church and the Sister Circle, Inc. was a calling that brought her joy, and she took it seriously.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Taylor; grandparents, Henry and Nezzie Meekins; brother, Marvin Lowell Meekins, and sister, Linda Meekins.
She is survived by her husband, Cornelius Washington; daughter, Amber (Reggie) Scott; son, Lorenzo (LaTreva) Meekins; daughter, Tiffany (Nonso Desmond) Meekins-Okeke; grandchildren, Amber, Z'Quaje, Asjah, Alonzo, LaKayla, and Zoey; great-grand child, Kehlani; sister, Deborah McAllister, and brother, Donald (Valerie) Meekins; aunts, Brenda and Flora, and uncle, Robert (Bettie) Meekins; best friend, Sharon Mosley Mack; cousins, nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. She also leaves to mourn: the Circle City Church family, the Sister Circle family, the Golden Girls of Zion Bible Study Group, and a host of others who affectionately called her mom, sister, and friend.

A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth. Ecclesiastes 7:1 Greta much love for you here on earth and look forward to seeing you in the spirit world.

There was a crazy time in our young lives that we were the very best of friends, l´est we forget. We ended on different paths but still chatted when we ran into each other. Thanks for the laughs and many, many fond memories.
RIP my friend.

Sending heartfelt condolences to the family.
