Greta Thiele Obituary
Greta was born on October 10, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to Rose Kloos and John Otto Bucke and lived most of her youth in Schenectady, New York. Her family moved to Florida in 1952 and she graduated from high school in Daytona Beach, Florida. She then moved back to New York and took classes at New York University while working as a corporate secretary for AT&T in Manhattan, New York.
She married the love of her life, Loren Thiele, in 1958 and moved to live with him on a farm near Norton, Kansas. They lived in Norton for 41 years and raised 4 children before retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1999. Loren and Greta celebrated 67 years of marriage on October 12, 2025.
Greta loved flower and vegetable gardening, always having beautiful flower beds and large gardens, and was a wonderful cook. She achieved Master Gardener status in 2001 and continued her long involvement in volunteer work with 4-H in Kansas and Arkansas and Benton County Master Gardeners into her late 80's.
Greta is survived by her husband Loren and their children, Eric Thiele, Priscilla Thiele Gamble, Lisa Thiele Sparks (Gary), Evan Thiele (Veronica), and her sister, Joan Bucke Bazley. Also, her cherished grandchildren: Daniel Manzella (Pamela), Caleb Manzella (Kimberlyn), Gabriel Gamble (Kelsey), Annabella Gamble, Christian Thiele, Declan Thiele (Nadia), Zander Thiele, Marlee Thiele, and great grandchildren Clara Thiele and Adelyn Manzella. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Natalie Thiele, Wanda Powell and Sharon Meyer, many nieces and nephews, and lifelong caring friends. She was predeceased by grandchildren Tony Manzella and Chelsea Sparks.
A Celebration on Life will be held August 8, 2026 in Bella Vista. If so desired, donations may be made to Benton County Master Gardeners, Messiah Lutheran Church, or Bella Vista Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be sent to: Loren Thiele, 3 Pinehurst Drive, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
