Grete E. Heims

Grete E. (Krueger) Heims, age 100, of Carlisle, died peacefully at home in the early morning hours of December 24, 2024. She was the loving wife for 67 years of the late Patrick E. Heims, who predeceased her on December 23, 2023.
Born on October 1, 1924, she started her life in Germany until World War II. When she came to the United States, she worked for the U.S. Government in Maryland, where she met Patrick while he was serving in the military. The couple played tennis on their first date, soon fell in love and married. Upon settling in Carlisle and raising a family, they would pass on their love of tennis (and golf) to their children.
An excellent golfer and tennis player, she maintained longtime memberships over the years at Concord Country Club, Heritage Country Club and Wyndemere Country Club. Along the way, she won several championships and playoffs. She ran the Weston Racquet Club for 15 years, a job she wholeheartedly admired. She enjoyed assisting her good friend Marjorie Wheeler with her travel business in Concord. She was a talented painter and an accomplished knitter. Grete also cherished time spent at the family's condo in Sanibel Island.
She leaves behind three children, Clayton Heims, II of Carlisle, Eric Heims of Lexington and Gretchen Heims of Boston, along with her grandchildren, Nicholas and Elena Heims.
Family and friends will gather for visiting hours at Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Friday, January 24th from 5 to 7 pm. Her memorial service will take place on Saturday, January 25th at 4:00 pm in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord Center, followed by a reception.
