Guadalupe Leal Obituary
Lupe is survived by his mother, Minerva Leal; his siblings, Leticia Armendariz (Arturo); Norma Leal-Jabbari (Javad); Cynthia Owens (Daniel); Maria Leal; and Marco Leal (Gabriela) and by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Guadalupe Leal Sr; his fraternal grandmother, Aurora Leal; his maternal grandmother, Narcissa Cantu, and brother-in-law, Arturo Armendariz.
He graduated from McAllen High School in 1978 and then went on to serve as an Anti-Tank Assaultman in the United States Marine Corps (Camp Pendleton, CA) and the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve (Kansas City, MI) between 1978~1984. Lupe received the Meritorious Mast Award and the Riffle Expert Badge (3rd Award) while serving in the USMC.
Lupe was a devoted son and loving brother whose family meant the world to him and him to them. He was a father to many fur babies and an animal advocate; if he ever saw a dog or cat that needed a home, Lupe never even gave it a second thought, he was up for the task. Lupe was a loyal friend to many and was someone who you could always count on to be there.
From an early age, Lupe's artistic talents were very evident. However, Lupe's, aka Loopson1, true passion was music. He was a talented DJ whose love and dedication for music dates back several decades. Lupe was an avid collector of vinyl records & LP albums which ranged in the hundreds of thousands and across many genres.
He was also a talented jack of all trades whose skills and handyman abilities were outstanding. He often took on difficult projects and jobs others were not able to solve especially when it came to garage door installations and repairs.
Above all, Lupe was a devoted believer who stood and lived by the Word and teachings of Christ. There was nothing he was more committed to than his belief, faith, and love of God.
Lupe will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. Funeral viewing services are scheduled from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Ceballos Funeral Home in McAllen. Burial will take place the following day, Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.

Big Brother. Today is a difficult day as we´ve reached the one year mark of your passing. This all seems surreal, and I have difficulties accepting this reality. You were a beautiful soul on earth, so I can only imagine how beautiful you are as an angel in Heaven. I miss you, my flesh is selfish and refuses to accept that I can no longer hear you, see you, hug you. One thing is for certain, I know where you are is in a much better place, one where you are without pain so that brings me comfort and peace. I´m glad I got to see my uncle one more time the week before he transitioned into heaven. I won´t forget holding your hand in those last days and I wish so badly I got to spend more time with you but I am thankful for our conversations about music and dj´ing that I can always look back on. Please accept our most sincere condolences, I met Lupe about 20 years ago after my first garage door issue. Ever since then I noticed something unique about his personality. We covered quite the field everything from politics to sports and everyday life lessons. I always enjoyed my conversations with him and was impressed that he could maintain the topic of discussion all while doing his job. Though I never met Lupe's family I am not surprised to see the effect he had on them. He did some work for my mother and remember him kindly always asking how she was doing. I had NO problem recommending him to others when anybody needed any work done. He truly was dedicated to his work but most of all knew how to treat people. What a genuine person he was, all a testament of the family that brought him up. Please know that we will keep Lupe and his family in our prayers. May the good Lord watch over him and his family. My sincerest condolences to Lupe´s family. I grew up with Lupe and I have so many fond memories of Lupe while growing up. I´ll never forget how one day he was short and the next he was tall. I regret not seeing Lupe in recent years, but I know we will all see each other again when we go home. Heaven has got to be rejoicing as Jesus and his loved ones welcomed him to home.

Hey Daddy, I know you went straight to heaven, I´m gonna miss your phone calls, when I would answer, & you would say "hey daddyroni " even though I probably got to say maybe, one or two words in our whole conversation, I got more out of you talking to me about GOD, than when I would go to church! No one would ever explain things the way you did! I remember you would ask me to go feed your cats at 3 different places , H.E.B on Freddy, the bank on sugar & Freddy, & the stripes on sugar & canton , that´s why I say , I know GOD saw all of those kind things you did everyday !
