Guy “BoBo” Madison McCourt, Sr., 71, of Diana passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He left this world surrounded by love to run into the loving arms of his oldest baby girl, Lora Lou Simms.
Born June 24, 1953, he was the son of the late Edgar Freeman and Betty Lou (Fornash) McCourt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lora Lou Simms; brothers: Buck and Shannon McCourt; and sister, Nada Cochran.
BoBo was a logger by trade and also spent some time mining coal. He enjoyed being in the great outdoors. He could be found hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, snorkeling, and flying airplanes. He was a fierce competitor in many things, but he enjoyed boxing and playing poker most. He was a tremendous provider for his family and was blessed with a strong will and desire to provide for everyone. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and loved to spend time as much time as possible with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Lorna (Hamrick) McCourt; daughters: Wendy McCourt (Carl Cowger), Misty (Larry) Carpenter, and Dolly McCourt; sons: Guy Madison (Theresa) McCourt II, and Joejames Travis (Jessica) McCourt; son-in-law, Christopher Paul Simms; grandchildren: Annette Carpenter, Tinina McCourt (Casey Sizemore), Christopher Robert Simms, Donly Carpenter (Jason Rakers), Abbigail Carpenter, Guy Madison (Shaylynn) McCourt III, Morgan Carpenter, Lorna Ray, Dakoda Carpenter, and Madyson Carpenter; great-grandchildren: Taj Feldscher, Zoey Rakers, and Bentley Rakers; brothers: Bill (Sally) McCourt and Chris (Brenda) McCourt; sisters: Sue Ellen Badmaev (Ron White), Nellie (Malvin) Knight, and Marquita (Paul) Ridgeway; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Graveside services will be held 12Noon, Monday, April 14, 2025 at Harrison Cochran Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest following the service.
