Madawaska---Guy F. Dubay, 81, passed away peacefully, at NMMC, after battling two weeks of advanced stage kidney failure. He was born on December 3, 1942, in Van Buren, Maine, son of Edward and Eveline (Violette) Dubay. He was one of seven children. Guy was a student at the Van Buren Boys' High School, Class of 1960, as well as at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, Class of 1964. He was also a graduate student at the University of Maine at Orono in 1970-1971, where he received his master's degree in education. He was first a teacher, and then principal at the Madawaska School system for over twenty years. He also was a devoted volunteer for the Madawaska Historical Society in the capacity of historian, genealogist, storyteller and grounds keeper. He was predeceased by his wife, Ernestine Soucy, also of Van Buren, Maine, his parents, and two brothers, Leo James Dubay of Lewiston, ME, and Edward Dubay Jr. of Hamlin, ME, as well as a sister, Therese LaChapelle of Southington, CT. He is survived by his daughter, Donna-Marie Dubay, of Madawaska, ME; his son, Daniel J. Dubay of Everett, MA; his sisters, Imelda Harger of Portage, MI, Rose-Marie Dubay of Hartford, CT, and Anne Trombley of Port Orange, FL, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his family and colleagues suggest memorial contributions be made to the Madawaska Historical Society at 393 Main Street Madawaska, Maine, 04756 and/or the National Kidney Foundation.
