Guy Guthrie Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 17, 2025.
Guy C. Guthrie, 64 of Darlington, Maryland, passed away suddenly on November 4, 2025. Guy was the beloved husband to wife Kathleen M. Guthrie (née LaPlume) for over 44 years, and devoted father to Dylan M. Guthrie. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Corey K. Guthrie of Bel Air, Maryland.
He was born February 2, 1961, to Jerry L. Guthrie of Ormond Beach, Florida and the late Gail L. Welty, formerly of Jarrettsville, Maryland. Guy is also survived by his sisters Denise Leuschel, Sandra Farkas and her husband Tom, sister-in-law Patricia Liberatore, brother-in-law James LaPlume and his wife Kimberlee. He is also survived by his Aunt Faye Tucker and cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Guy met Kathi, his high school sweetheart, in 1975, and they were married in 1981. They enjoyed a beautiful life together and had recently built their "forever home." He loved the outdoors and was very active in sports, kayaking, motorcycling, camping, four-wheeling, and dirt biking with his sons and many close friends who became like family. He was an avid car enthusiast, and his passion was his Corvettes. He was a member of the Bel Air Corvette Club and loved participating in many, many car shows for charity. He also participated in many motorcycle rides for charity. He retired from Giant Food in 2015 after a 37-year career. Even after retirement he stayed close with his "Giant Family."
He will be remembered by so many as the most easy-going, fun-loving and generous person you could know. He loved to laugh and always wore a smile. He would always drop everything and help out family and friends without question and never said no.
A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Organ Donation program which Guy was so generously a part of upon his death; Infinite Legacy, Attn: Patrick Blake, 1730 Twin Spring Road, Suite 200, Baltimore, MD 21227.
