Mr. Guy Earnest Miller, Sr., age 86, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in
Mount Vernon, Ohio. Born on August 25, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, he lived a life marked by dedication to his craft, deep love for his family, and a steadfast work ethic that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Guy was the son of Lawrence and Ella Miller and grew up with strong values that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating high school, he entered the construction industry and found his calling in plumbing. His early career began at W&R Plumbing, where he honed his skills and developed a reputation for excellence. In 1974, after passing the Master Plumber test-a significant professional milestone-he founded Guy Miller Plumbing Inc., a business he operated with pride and integrity for nearly three decades.
Throughout his career, Guy was more than just a contractor; he was a mentor and teacher to many. He generously shared his knowledge and experience with those who worked alongside him. Under his guidance, numerous apprentices went on to become successful business owners or inspectors themselves. Known for his tireless work ethic and ability to outperform even those half his age, Guy earned the respect of peers and clients alike. His contributions to the plumbing trade were not only technical but deeply personal-he poured his heart into every job and every relationship.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Guy was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife Sandy Miller; their children: Guy (Shelly), Christina (Chris), Janie, and Evie; grandchildren: Ashley, Grant, Andy, Ariel, Karina, Kristiana, Ryan, Devin, Ali, and Miranda; as well as 33 great-grandchildren who carry forward his legacy of strength and perseverance.
Guy's life was also enriched by simple pleasures. He enjoyed hunting in the quiet of nature's embrace, playing golf with friends or family under open skies, and spending time on the water-places where he found peace and joy outside of work.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Ella Miller; his brother Jerry Miller; and granddaughter Jessica McCormick.
Guy will be remembered as a hardworking soul who deeply cared for those around him especially his wife and children. He had an easygoing nature that allowed him to get along with everyone he met. His life's work stands as a testament to commitment and craftsmanship in an ever-changing world.
May the memory of Guy Earnest Miller Sr.-a man who gave so much of himself to both family and profession-bring comfort to all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Milford Church of Christ 3648 Johnstown Rd. Celebration of life followed by a service and luncheon
