Guy C. Sayre

Guy C. Sayre, age 86, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born on October 31, 1939, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Dana Orthur and Monna Gatewood Conrad Sayre. He was united in marriage on June 18, 1966, to Carolyn Sue Bennett Sayre, who preceded him in death on May 13, 2021. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Davy Wayne Sayre.

He is survived by one daughter, Melissa A. Sayre Tenney and husband Kenneth C. Tenney, Jr. of Buckhannon; one son, James D. Sayre of French Creek; one grandson, James C. Tenney and wife Rebecca of Jane Lew; six great grandchildren: Ethan Tenney, Jessica Claypool, Jasmine Claypool, Harley Collins, Baxton Claypool, and James Tenney, Jr.; two great great grandchildren: Evelyn and Wyatt Tenney; one brother, Arthur Sayre and wife Patty of Buckhannon; one sister, Diana Hope Sayre Patterson of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sayre was retired from Moore Business Forms. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting.

Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 4-6 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wease Day officiating. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military services. Interment will follow in the Pickens Cemetery.
