Guy T. Toone Jr.
72, passed away peacefully at home on August 5 in Bakersfield, California. He was born on October 13, 1952, in Alameda, California, to Guy and Mildred Toone.
Guy grew up in San Jose and Bakersfield, California. He graduated from East High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1971, where he was stationed in England. After retiring from Frito-Lay as a salesman, he drove for GET Bus Services, which he greatly enjoyed.
He married Patty Eaton in 1972. Together, they had two children: Jeremy and his wife, Shannon Toone; and Amy and her husband, Robert Shuck; along with 13 grandchildren. Guy was a dedicated supporter of Houchin Blood Bank and was just one donation shy of reaching the 20-Gallon Club. Due to his rare blood type, most of his donations were used for premature babies, as well as for his granddaughter, Lexi Ann Shuck. He enjoyed visiting the beach, camping at Yosemite National Park, reading Louis L'Amour books, and, in his later years, studying the Bible and praying.
Guy is survived by his son, Jeremy, of Edgewood, NM; his daughter, Amy, of Rustburg, VA; and his three sisters, Diane Rowles, Linda (Darrell) Ward, and Vonnie (Mike) Story, all of Bakersfield. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Mildred Toone; his nephew, Brian Hammons; and his grandson, Caleb Guy Shuck.
A viewing will be held at Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles St., on Wednesday, August 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burial will follow promptly at 2:00 p.m. at Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 East Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA.
A celebration of life will follow the burial at Florence Gardens Clubhouse, 6701 Auburn St. Bakersfield, CA
