Gwen Broome Cranford, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away on September 9, 2025, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Moore County, North Carolina. Born on October 29, 1954, in Montgomery County, Gwen's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with creativity, love, and kindness.
With a gentle spirit and a vibrant personality, Gwen brought joy to everyone around her. She was known for her fun-loving nature, her warm heart, and her ability to make those around her feel special. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will fondly remember watching her create art, beautiful jewelry, and delightful paintings. Each piece she crafted was a reflection of her passion and dedication, showcasing her artistic talents that many admired.
Gwen proudly earned her Associate's Degree in Arts, a testament to her love for creativity and learning. Her life was deeply intertwined with the Norman Methodist Church, where she was an active member, finding strength and community in her faith.
Gwen's proudest accomplishments were her family and the love they shared. She is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Cranford; her son, Dustin Scott Cranford (Meredith); her brothers, Wayne Broome (Penny) and Dale Broome and canine companion Angel. Gwen's legacy will live on through her family, who will carry forward the love and values she instilled in them.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raeford and Marlene Joyce Broome, who shaped her into the kind and loving person everyone cherished.
A visitation will be held on September 17, 2025, from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM at Norman Methodist Church, located at 118 West Moore Street, Norman, NC 28367, followed by a funeral service celebrating her life at 2:00 PM with Rev. Marcina Mungin officiating. Interment will follow at Norman Cemetery. All who knew and loved Gwen are invited to come together to honor her memory and the light she brought into our lives.
Gwen Broome Cranford will be deeply missed, but her spirit and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
