Gwendolyn Lane Ligons, a loving and devoted mother, began her earthly journey on March 12, 1946, in Anniston, Alabama to the parentage of Luther Calvin Lane, Sr. and Mary Lunda Ball. She attended the Calhoun County Training School in Hobson City, Alabama, where she graduated with the class of 1964. She lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to those around her.
A woman of strong faith, Gwendolyn's spiritual life was at the core of her being. She found solace and purpose in her relationship with the Lord. From her early days of going to church with her family to her current membership at New Birth Christian Center, she demonstrated a steadfast commitment to her spiritual journey. Gwendolyn found joy in her faith and was an active member of New Birth Christian Center where she served diligently on the usher board and the Women's Ministry until her health began to fail. Her passion for serving others and her generous spirit made her a pillar of strength for her family and friends.
Gwendolyn's greatest pride and joy came from her son, Terrence Lane, who she showered with love and encouragement throughout his life. Her bond with him was unbreakable, as she dedicated herself to being the best mother she could be, celebrating every milestone and supporting him through life's challenges.
After 78 blessed years on her earthly journey, Gwendolyn Ligons answered the Master's call and entered eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Ligons; parents, Mary L. Persons and Luther C. Lane, Sr.; and brothers, Luther C. Lane, Jr. and Eric V. Cammack.
Gwendolyn Ligons leaves a legacy of love and memories to forever be cherished by her wonderful son, Terrence D. Lane of Lake Stevens, WA; her grandson, Trey Lane; sisters, Phyllis (Horace) Martin of Hobson City, AL, Melba Lane Bright of Seattle, WA, and Paula (Darryl) Gillabrothar of Los Angeles, CA; brother, David Lane of Youngstown, OH; special friend, Charlie E. Brown of Anniston, AL; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gwendolyn will be remembered not only for her faith and dedication to family but also for the warmth and love she shared with everyone she encountered. As we bid farewell to Gwendolyn, we celebrate a life well-lived and the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.
