H. Duane Kinzer, 83, beloved husband, son and grandfather of Greencastle, PA went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2026. Born on June 23, 1942, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Harold C. Kinzer and Edna Mae Springer Kinzer.
Duane was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church Greencastle, PA, since 1975, where he actively participated with his wife in youth programs and later served on Church Council and Finance Committee. He graduated from Williamsport High School with the class of 1960 and went to Strayer Business college in Washington D.C. in the field of accounting. While in high school he was a Herald Mail carrier.
Duane was employed at Grove Manufacturing in Greencastle for 10 years, before establishing his own finance and real estate holdings company, Century, Inc., which has been operating in Greencastle, PA, for over 60 years. Presently his son, Jason, manages Century.
He was very involved in Mason-Dixon boy scouts, initially helping with Troop 99 when his two sons were scouts. Both sons became Eagle Scouts. Duane later served on the “Investment in Character” fundraising campaign, received the Lamb Award, joined the “Builders of Men” wall of honor at Camp Sinoquipe, served on committee, and was honored with the Silver Beaver Award, the highest recognition a scouting council can bestow upon a volunteer.
Duane’s hobbies included hunting in the great outdoors, playing cards with friends, traveling with his wife (notable Alaska and Hawaii) and attending train shows as an avid train collector. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids at their sporting events.
He was Rotary Club president where he received the Paul Harris Fellow award, on Board of Chambersburg Trust Company, member of FOP Hagerstown, MD, TCA (Train Collectors Association), VFW Chambersburg, Mediary Masonic Lodge # 140 Williamsport and served on Greencastle Borough Council a number of years.
Duane is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Sandra Lou Kinzer (married May 20, 1967); two sons, Eric Duane Kinzer of Chambersburg, PA and Jason Scott Kinzer, along with his wife, Jacklyn Kinzer, and his much-loved grandchildren, Kash and Kali from Greencastle, PA
