Grace Marie Sheffler, age 92, of Hughesville, MD, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, with her family by her side at home. Born November 17, 1933, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Clara Spangler Barnhart.
Mrs. Sheffler worked as a bank teller for over 45 years, at various banks, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sports, especially baseball and football and watching westerns on television and feeding the wildlife.
Surviving are three children, Brenda D., Ott (Stephen) of Chambersburg, PA, Jerry L. Shatzer of Marion, PA, and Tony A. Sheffler (Jennifer) of Hughesville, MD; five grandchildren, Walter Flowers, Angela Atherton, Andrew Shatzer (Denise), Shawna Sheffler, and Jennifer Lutes (Kenneth); and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald E. Sheffler in 2012; a grandson, Jared Sheffler in 2023; and six siblings.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11 AM in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Fred Keener will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., Greencastle, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Greencastle Church of the Brethren, 36 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA 17225. Online condolences may be offered on her page at www.zimmermanfh.com
