Hai Dao Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 10, 2025.
Hai Lam Truong Dao, born Feb. 14, 1975, in Saigon, Vietnam, passed away on Nov. 7, 2025, in Rock Hill, SC.

Hai's life was a testament to resilience, love and joy. He arrived in the United States as a child refugee alongside his mother, Lam Phuong Pham, and his late brother, Quang Lam Truong Dao. Those early experiences shaped his deep appreciation for family and the enduring bonds that carried him throughout his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Nguyen; his three children, Jordan Dao (23), Kali Dao (20) and Emma Dao (2); his mother, Lam Phuong Pham; his stepfather, Joseph Heung; his mother-in-law, Huong Nguyen; his sisters-in-law, Trinh Nguyen (Gavin Dennis), Hong Nguyen (Phi Doan) and Diemmy Nguyen; his brother-in-law, Thien Nguyen; and his nieces and nephews, Gabrielle Dennis, Skye Dennis, Mirra Doan, Graham Dennis, Kly Doan and Avery Doan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Quang Lam Truong Dao.

Hai was the heart of his family, loving, vibrant and full of life. He cherished his wife, Katherine, who was his constant and his calm. As a father, he was deeply devoted, always ready with a quick joke and a warm smile for his children. His playful spirit and infectious laughter lit up every room and brought joy to those around him. He loved the outdoors and found happiness in simple moments spent with friends and family. Whether hiking, sharing a meal or enjoying a quiet afternoon, Hai made every moment count.

His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he inspired and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of Hai's life will be held in 2026, with details to be shared at a later time.
