Hal Holbrook Obituary

Hal David Holbrook, 73, of Greenwood passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026 at his residence.

Born on August 28, 1952, in Shelbyville he was the son of Wray D. Holbrook and Pauline (Anderson) Holbrook. He married Sharon Lynn ( Henning) Holbrook on April 12, 1996 and she survives.

Other survivors include children- Matt (wife Jill) Holbrook of Bargersville, Emily Harvey of Whiteland; stepson- Matt (wife Danielle) Patterson of Greenwood, stepdaughter Lori Patterson (fiance Bobby) of Lawrence, Indiana; and 6 grandchildren- Ethan Holbrook, Katherine Holbrook, Joseph Harvey, Grayson Harvey, Delanie Patterson & Quinn Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Hal was a lifetime Shelby County resident, and graduated from Waldron High School in 1970.

He was employed with Raytheon as a cost estimator for several years, retiring in 2010. Hal enjoyed watching basketball, golf, collecting coins, reading books about the Civil War and traveling to Civil War Battle sites, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held with Rev. John Wessic officiating. Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby County Animal Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
