Hal Edward "Sonny" Stevick, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, in
Pensacola, Florida. Born on January 1, 1941, in
Jeannette, Pennsylvania, Sonny proudly entered the world as the first baby born in the state of Pennsylvania in 1941-a distinction he loved to share with everyone he met and one that often sparked a smile or a story. Sonny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kay Stevick, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chris Stevick; his parents, Margaret Myers Stevick and Harold Stevick; and his niece, Tina Black. In his early years, Sonny worked in a glass factory before beginning a long and dedicated career with Westinghouse, where he worked for more than 30 years. After retiring, his expertise and passion for his work led him to a second career as a consultant, helping to build power plants around the world-a role he took great pride in. Sonny was loved by all who met him. He was known for his gentle nature, his love of telling jokes, and his ability to recount stories and memories from his life with warmth and humor. Above all, he was deeply devoted to his family and was a lifelong, enthusiastic fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, a love that never faded. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Rick) Seybold and Tammy Lou Brecht (John Powell); his grandchildren, Jaison (Amelia) Brecht, Ashlee (Stephen) Dyson, Ryan Nalevanko (Jordan), Christopher (Sara) Brecht Jr., Amberleigh (Gregory) Steadham, and Jordan Nalevanko; and his great-grandchildren, Jantzen, Khloe, Nathan, Molly, Gabby, Bryson, Connor, Willow, Ivy, Tallulah, and Ileene. He is also survived by his loyal and loving dog, Holly, who remained faithfully by his side. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy O'Shea; and his nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his Steelers family at Beef O'Brady's, where friendships were formed, laughter was shared, and game days were always something special. Funeral services will be held on January 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends on January 20, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Jaison Brecht, Ryan Nalevanko, Christopher Brecht, Jordan Nalevanko, Jantzen Brecht, and Bryson Lane. Sonny will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, his stories, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the memories that will be cherished forever.
