Hallie Jeanne Engleman (nee Holtmann), 80, of O'Fallon, IL, born on July 2, 1945, in Langly Field, VA, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.
Hallie was a lifelong resident of O'Fallon. She grew up in an old farmhouse on Old Collinsville Road. She graduated from O'Fallon Township High School in 1963. On June 3rd of 1967, she married the love of her life, Charles "Ed" Engleman. They had two daughters and lived all their remaining years in O'Fallon.
In 1979, Hallie began working at the O'Fallon Public Library. She worked there for 28 years and formed many lifelong friendships with the other ladies she worked with. She finally retired in 2007. After that, she enjoyed gardening, cruises, and trips to see her dear friend from grade school, Maureen. She also enjoyed the regular lunches and get togethers with her co-workers from the library. She also kept in touch with and met often with the "girls" from the old neighborhood on Central Avenue, where Hallie and Ed bought their first home.
Hallie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Thelma Holtmann (nee Montgomery); her husband, Charles Edward "Ed" Engleman; and sister, Jane Margaret Whittington.
Hallie is survived by her two daughters, Elaine (Donald) Blue, Amy (Paul) West; three grandchildren, Paul West Jr., Abigail Blue, Donald Edward Blue; sister-in-law, Sr. Brenda Engleman, Sisters of St. Benedict; nephews, Charles "Chuck" Engleman, Jeff Engleman, Steve Engleman, Robert Engleman, Michael Engleman; nieces, Debi Salinas, Sheila Ochu, Julie Do, Dawn Schaefer, Valerie Whittington; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O'Fallon, IL 62269.
Another visitation will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Schildknecht Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Larry Ridenour officiating. Burial to follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery at 601 N. Oak St., O'Fallon, IL 62269.
